Cometh the eighth month of the calendar, cometh the Playaz Carnival Special – it’s that much of a well etched fixture on our annual schedule. This year there though are big big hitters in every room with Pascal and Hype imparting a little bit of tropical in Room One, inviting the Brazilian flair of Dj Marky to join them and Sigma – alongside regular Playaz family Taxman, Sub Zero and Prolix in Room One.
Rodigan pre-empts the West London weekenders’ ‘vibes’ with a headline set in Room Two where he’ll no doubt be bringing a box load of well worn dubplates alongside his ample charisma as a musical educator. He’s appearing alongside Digital Soundboy boss, Shy FX, Funky Flirt, BBC Radio 1xtra’s Bailey playing a ‘party set’, Shut Up and Dance, Potential Badboy, North Base and Mach 4.
Up in Room Three Rockwell and Lenzman top a bill that leans towards that good good ticky and technical drum & bass with further sets from Lynx, Ulterior Motive, Shimah, Basher and Macpherson. You can reload Basher’s mix that he made exclusively for us in anticipation of this set, over on the blog now. |

Innervisions co-founder, Dixon, returns to Room One this Saturday where he’ll most likely be pinning us to the floor with a set that’ll come rich in texture and deep hypnotic patterns. He tops a bill that boasts Berlin/Hamburg house duo Session Victim - who are arriving hot off the back of their Delusions of Grandeur backed LP, ‘The Haunted House of House’ - on the live stage and DJ performances from Bristol’s secret weapon (Applepips and Skudge signing) October and the inimitable Joy Orbison, who’ll be showcasing the kinds of records that inform his own releases. We’ve got high-grade audio goods from Joy Orbison, Boddika & Peason Sound in a three part of stream of the new ‘Faint/ Nil (Reese)/ Moist’ EP and Session Victim deliver us a super stellar promo mix.
Craig Richards’ driven The Nothing Special night returns to Room Two with one of Bristol's most pioneering DJs (and the man who brought dubstep to the South West proper), Tectonic Recordings boss, Pinch and the emphatic Shackleton will be performing a gravitating live set. The two producers released a collaborative album on Honest Jon’s together last year showcasing the musical threads they share, but aside from that Shackleton continues to send spines tingling with his stark, linear and percussive techno influenced work on his most recent opuses, ‘Music for the Quiet Hour’ and ‘The Drawbar Organ EPs’.
In Room Three, our resident Terry Francis is set to stun the crowd with his forever superior selection process; no mean feat considering that he’ll be standing next to Berlin-based house veteran, Ian Pooley and his notorious Nature Or Nurture comrade, The Pushamann |

It’s the return of WetYourSelf! August bank holiday special this Sunday with the resident trio themselves showing you exactly how to spend the extended party hours in the company of some very special guests. One third of the Items & Things label, Marc Houle, will perform his live show of precision-tooled techno and French DJ and producer Chloé will join him and the WYS! trio in Room One. Chris Liebing joins Aus Music signing Sian and London DJ/producer Billy Allen in taking the reins of the Room Two system and Lost Souls return to Room Three with Antony Difrancesco and Dan Farserelli providing the quality pumping house jams long into Monday morning without the omnipresent worry of the work week hanging over them.
